Albina District Tee
15% of profits to the Maurice Lucas Foundation.
One of the families positively impacted by the Maurice Lucas foundation is that of Kamelah Adams, the owner and founder of Mimi’s Fresh Tees.
Mimi is a NE Portland native, raised in the historic Albina district, a community rich with the people and voices of the city’s Black heritage. She’s active in her community by volunteering to better the educational outcomes of all students and coordinating community engagement events at local schools. While working as PTA Vice President for Racial Equality and Inclusion, she became increasingly aware of the systemic effects on children of color, especially black boys.
She saw the need for more social justice-based conversations and realized people can start these by wearing their beliefs on their shirts, which led her to create Mimi’s Fresh Tees in 2018. Mimi’s brother and children have been a part of the Maurice Lucas Foundation, and she’s forever grateful for the organization’s efforts to connect with underserved youth and provide meaningful educational opportunities through tutoring.
15% of the sales of from the Mimi’s x Portland Gear collection will be donated to the foundation, supporting their goal of teaching valuable life lessons through sport and education.
