PORTLAND, Ore. -- June 25, 2018 -- Starting today, Portland Gear launches its second annual Brand Camp, a four-day workshop for high school and college-aged students to work with, listen and learn from some of the most influential entrepreneurs and business owners in the Portland metro area and beyond. A group of 72 participants have been selected from a pool of over 250 applicants to join the Portland Gear team, business leaders, and professional athletes from the Portland area across two four-day sessions running June 25-28 and July 9-12.

Brand Camp participants’ schedules are jam-packed during the week’s sessions, meeting with the team behind Portland Gear, successful entrepreneurs, guest speakers, and break out sessions to discuss topics including business development, marketing, branding, social media, and what it takes to start a successful venture. Participants will also be split into teams to put their skills to the test, creating and presenting their own Brand Camp projects in a pitch-the-investor-style boardroom session.

Participating organizations and sponsors of 2018 Brand Camp include: KEEN Footwear, Water Avenue Coffee, Oregon Screen Impressions, Portland Timbers, Fifty/Fifty, Rumpl, Wild Friends Foods, Moonstruck Chocolate, and Matter Communications.

“Brand Camp is one of our favorite parts of the year,” said Marcus Harvey, owner and creator of Portland Gear. “This all started because we were getting inundated with requests from students to shadow our Portland Gear team, and it has evolved into a full-fledged program that connects budding entrepreneurs with business leaders and influencers at the top of their respective fields. We’re honored to be the ones to offer the opportunity, but it’s the participants and the brand mentors that really make this something special.”

About Portland Gear

Portland Gear was founded by University of Oregon graduate, Marcus Harvey, in 2014. Having created the Portland “P” logo to wear on hats for himself, Marcus quickly began getting requests from companies for apparel with “Made in Portland” tags. Marcus saw the opportunity to foster locals pride for the Portland community and founded Portland Gear. Now, with a team of five full-time employees, he has grown Portland Gear into one of the most iconic apparel brands in the Pacific Northwest.
