This year we had the privilege of creating a custom shirt for the Rose Court Princesses to wear during this years Rose Festival Parade. The Rose Festival Court is comprised of 15 young women from the Portland Metro area high schools.
The girls visited Portland Gear and we were able to hear more about their goals for the future and they were able to ask questions regarding the Portland Gear story and entrepreneurship. We are glad to be a part of the Rose Court Festival and look forward to seeing them sporting the gear!
This weekend we are launching part of our basics line featuring embroidered long tee's in both white and grey and a thin long hoodie. Stop by the store and grab one or order online!

In no particular order:
Situated in SE Portland on Division Street, Dapper & Wise does so many things right. You can expect to be greeted with comical baristas, and friendly conversation. If you're looking to try something new, order a coffee soda. We absolutely recommend following them on Instagram, between their hysterical videos and creative captions they will quickly become a favorite.
2. Water Avenue
You will find Water Avenue Coffee situated on Water Avenue. (creative huh?) This industrial space brings out some of Portland's best coffee. With their creative roasting techniques, they leave you wanting to try more and more.
3. Good Coffee
You guessed it. Good Coffee has really good coffee. This might just be one of the most aesthetically pleasing coffee shops in Portland. You'll immediately notice the seemingly perfect plants, every detail here counts. The coffee is served in beautiful handmade mugs, you'll absolutely want to stay awhile.
One of the most beautiful, airy coffee shops in the city. Every once in awhile you'll get to see the lead roaster at work. Upper Left offers a good sized food selection so go hungry, you will not be disappointed.
Heart Coffee is a well known roaster in Portland that both locals and tourists enjoy. With a location on each side of the river the locations are quite different. The west side location is small and clean, hipsters flowing in and out. The east side location allows for larger groups and seems to attract more locals.
This unique series of coffee shops allows for individuals to have a completely different experience in each spot. Their newest location in the Pine Street Market, Brass Bar, is attracting people with coffee in the day, and spiked coffee at night.
With a large interior, Coava invites groups of people in to spend hours on their projects. Coava is known for their precise coffee, with every detail being focused on, they produce a perfect cup of coffee.
With Trailhead Roasters being located in Cup & Bar, the space gives off a unique vibe. We recommend biking here, as you can head straight in the garage door and hang up your bike in the shop. With each cup of coffee you'll have a complimentary piece of chocolate - a perfect combo. Cup & Bar offers a series of gourmet toast selections, we recommend the avocado toast.
Though many new shops have been emerging in the last couple of years, Stumptown will always be a Portland Staple. With locations all across the city its easy to stop in for a cup. One of our favorite spots is tucked inside the Ace Hotel.
Case Study is spread throughout the city in three different locations. Each shop has a slightly different feel, we love the atmosphere on SW 10th with business professionals flowing in and out, large windows for people watching, and the central bar.
We are incredibly excited to welcome Jacob Pebley to the Portland Gear sports team. This is our first official athletic endorsement, and we’re thrilled to have Jacob be that guy. At Portland Gear we’re about creating regional pride through product that embodies and represents a community and culture. With Jacob being a Pacific Northwest native, the alignment between the two was a natural fit. His success will be greatly enjoyed by all of those in the area as we’re excited to root on a hometown kid and see him along his path to his next Olympics.
After a successful collegiate career at the University of California, Jacob qualified for the 2016 Olympic Team and finished 5th in the 200 backstroke in Rio. A Corvallis native, has a strong community following in his home state and has led swim clinics in the communities of Eugene and Corvallis.
Before his 5th place finish in the 200-meter backstroke in Rio, Jacob won his first national title in the 200-meter back at the 2015 Phillips 66 National Championships. He followed that performance with gold in the 200-meter back and silver in the 400-medley relay at the 2015 World University Games. Jacob currently lives in Berkeley with his fiancé Nikki and trains with the Cal Bear Pro Team.
“Partnering with Portland Gear is a dream come true,” said Jacob. “They are an up and coming company that is just beginning to take off. I feel they have a similar trajectory as me, and after meeting Marcus in person, I knew we shared a similar drive and motivation to succeed. Their products embody the Oregon lifestyle I have carried with me down in the Bay Area where I train. I feel that together we can do some amazing things for the Oregon community as we approach the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.”
Jacob’s time of 1:55.56 in the 200-meter back is currently one of the top times in the world for 2017. This June, Jacob will compete for a spot on the US World Championship Team in Budapest, Hungary.

TEDxPortland is an independently organized TED event. It was an incredible opportunity to be a co sponsor this year. TEDxPortland has a history of building community in Portland while sharing knowledge to make this the best place. With many notable speakers and performers, this year was rich in content. We left inspired and informed, and look forward to many more years.
If you were unable to make it to the event check in their archive to be inspired by individuals such as Colin O'Brady, PHAME, Thor Drake, Emma Mcilroy, and many others!
When the opportunity came to do a custom TedxPortland cap we jumped on it immediately. Being huge fans of Ted talks, this was an opportunity we knew we couldn't miss out on. These caps are full custom and are being sold in store, at the Sentinel hotel, and at TedxPortland this weekend!
We will also be selling the TedxPortland 5 panel caps in addition to being a part of some giveaways for the VERY limited (175 pairs) Nike Spectrum Huarache. Keep checking the social media for more information!
