1. Free Returns and Exchanges Available:
When you opt-in for Unlimited Free Returns/Exchanges at checkout, your return shipping label is included, allowing you to return any item(s) in your order for a refund or exchange for FREE. If you decide not to buy Unlimited Free Returns/Exchanges you can still return your items, but you will be responsible for the cost of the return shipping label. All returns are subject to the guidelines outlined in our Return Policy. Please note that the original shipping fee and the $1.98 charge for Free Returns & Package Protection is always non-refundable.

We want you to shop confidently, which is why we're offering a generous 90-day return window for a full refund. If you decide within 90 days of your purchase that it’s not quite right for you, simply return your item in its original condition (unworn, unwashed, with tags attached) for a full refund.

If it’s been more than 90 days, no worries! You are still eligible to make a return after 90 days, but instead of a refund you will receive store credit as long as the item(s) are unworn, unwashed, and has the original tags attached, we’ll issue store credit for the current value of the product.

ReGear is Portland Gear's repair program designed to extend the life of your gear and reduce unnecessary waste by restoring eligible bags whenever possible.

ReGear is not intended for all forms of bag damage and does not currently cover:

Please note that if an issue is not eligible for ReGear, it may still qualify for warranty coverage. We encourage customers to submit a request through our warranty portal so our team can review the item and determine the best resolution.

Before Shipping Your Bag

If a bag cannot be repaired, we will determine the best resolution based on warranty status and item condition.

6. Additional Notes for Luggage Returns, Exchanges & Warranties
To help us ensure every traveler receives luggage that meets our quality standards, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

Keep your original box. All luggage must be returned or exchanged in its original packaging.

Photo of wheels required. Returns and exchanges must include a clear photo of the bottoms of the wheels so our team can verify the item hasn’t been used.

Used luggage is not eligible for a full refund or exchange.

Warranty requests require detailed photos. Claims submitted without photos cannot be approved.
7. Special Circumstances
Incorrect Shipping Address
If you enter the wrong shipping address, contact us right away at team@portlandgear.com. We’ll do our best to update it before fulfillment, but we can’t guarantee changes once the order is processed.
After an order ships, we can’t modify the address or contact the carrier. You may reach out to the carrier directly, though changes aren’t guaranteed.
If the package is returned to us, we can resend it to the correct address at no cost. However, if it’s not returned, we’re unable to replace or refund the order.
Please double-check your shipping address at checkout to avoid delivery issues.
Returning Multiple Orders in One Box
If you are returning items from multiple orders in the same package, you must include a note inside the box with the following information:

This information is required so our warehouse team can properly identify and process your return. If a note is not included, our warehouse may not be able to match the items to the correct order. International Returns & Exchanges
At this time, all international orders are considered final sale. As a small business, international shipping costs are extremely high, and there are frequent complications with customs when processing returns, exchanges, or warranty replacements. Because of this, we are unable to offer exchanges or returns on orders shipped outside of the United States.
If there is an error with your order due to a mistake on our end (for example, you received the wrong item), please contact us at team@portlandgear.com and we will work with you to find an appropriate solution.

This company is awesome. I have loved every item purchased. Started with standard Cascade backpack. Then added the weekender bag. I’ll be traveling next with most recent purchase of weekender backpack. Love that it combines both the weekender and backpack in one and it is bigger than cascade standard backpack. Also love the kit bags. Also want to mention how fantastic their customer service is. My last order was for the kits. I ordered both standard and compact in cloud. Received one in cloud and one in blush. I was so bummed b/c I had upcoming travel and I’m one of those people who wants their luggage to match! I’m weird, I know! Anyway, I took a pic and emailed customer service to let them know wrong color received. They thanked me for letting them know and immediately sent the correct item, so I would have it in time for my trip. Best customer service experience I’ve ever had! Thank you Portland Gear!

I was searching for a pack to carry a lunch box, a laptop, a tablet, and books. This fits the bill perfectly.
I’m all packed and at PDX waiting to board! It holds everything I need for fun filled Friday thru Monday trip! I have 1 medium packing cube in the top, 4 kids books in the laptop compartment, and 1 packing cube, pair of dress shoes, and Cascade kit - standard in the bottom area. Surprised how much the bottom area fits!! Rides nicely on my shoulders too!
I fit everything I needed for a 3 day wedding weekend into the Getaway Bag, including the Cascade Kit and pouch. Amazing!!
Love this bag. Love all of the improvements. Expandable bottle holder is fantastic. Could likely hold two pairs of shoes in the bottom compartment. I really enjoy the flexibility of the two compartments and being able to convert it into one large compartment. I’m 6 feet tall and weigh about 275. The regular size cascade backpack looked tiny on me but this one fits very nicely. Great great weekend bag.
I absolutely love this bag. I am using it as my new work bag - it has plenty of room for my laptop, headphones, and many other things! I use the lower pouch to carry my lunch items. It is so spacious and high quality. It will be great to use as an airplane carry on bag as well!
Listen, I was skeptical, I didn't think this backpack could be groundbreaking, but I traveled all around Ireland in ten days IN JUST THIS BACKPACK and a Trader Joe's mini tote. A lot of it did come down to relearning how to pack for a backpacking trip, I couldn't be the typical overpacker I usually am, but this backpack was perfect for my trip. Not only is the material nice, durable, and waterproof, but there is an assortment of pockets for stashing anything you need. There is plenty of space, and the bottom portion for shoes was an added bonus that sealed the deal in me getting this backpack over the standard size. Also? Get the hip belt. It is a must. I packed about 20-30 pounds in this bag, and I easily carried it around (albeit with a little bit of sweat) because the weight was well-distributed. I cannot express enough how much I love this bag and how thankful I am that I splurged for it as opposed to a bag on Amazon.
Great bag with a few small quirks! Bought this as my 2nd bag for personal travel and took it on a trial trip to Australia and Tonga. What I love - the quality of the material is great. Smooth and sleek, I received several comments on how nice people thought it looked. The dual compartments are great for organizing things into “quick grab” and “need to have but not access all the time” zones. The pop open top is super convenient both for ease of packing and also for viewing inside when grabbing something. Straps on the bag are cushy and comfy when carried on the back. What do I wish was different? Two things. 1. I love the large size or the standard but wish it was just slightly smaller. It’s just a tad too big to slip under an airplane seat and that would make the bag so much more versatile. 2. I own 3 Portland gear bags now and all 3 of them are a struggle with the zipper at times. I think it’s a side effect of the wire frame opening so I’m happy to trade off for the convenience of that feature - I just wish they had a better solution to make the closing and opening more fluid.

Traded my Weekender in for the new Getaway and so thankful!! This holds a LOT but so much easier to manage when walking through airports. Two shoulder straps much more comfortable than the single strap or handles. This is a gem!!
Amazing bag. Using it day to day as my diaper bag and so easy to access everything quickly. Still has so much room for my own things for travel days. Love the expandable side drink pocket for large water bottles and baby bottles. Even stuffed full, the bag sits slimly when wearing.

After loving my travel bag for years, I needed an upgrade. I love my husband’s flexible Patagonia black hole duffle, but I hate digging around for things. I travel for stretches of time that makes it challenging to live out of one compartment. While looking for a new bag, I realized I really wanted a travel bag that had a shoe compartment. Bonus points if it could fit under an airline seat as a personal item, because I love to travel light. There are so many great bags out there right now but traveling with a backpack is so much easier than a tote. Ultimately this bag doesn’t hit all the marks — I’m kind of asking for the impossible, I realize. It only fit under a seat sometimes (yes to 737-800, no to 737-MAX) and overall the bag was kind of small for the average person. BUT! If you have only traveled with a simple backpack like me, this was a huge upgrade. So many great, thoughtful compartments! My 32 oz hydro flask has an expandable side pocket when it’s not under the seat (wow!); I could get my toiletries without disturbing my clothes (in a back zipper pocket);there are places to stash charging cables and wallets, and I could even carry a hat (pictured). Also, the bag is comfortable and I love the material. I didn’t realize I needed this upgrade! I’m happy to support this new brand.
I just had my first plane trip with the Cascade Getaway and was very pleased with the extra space. I also have the Cascade Standard and physically, the Getaway was a bit bigger, but it fit a lot more inside. I travel with a seat cushion and neck pillow for the 5+ hour flights, and the standard was a bit tight with my laptop. No problem with the Getaway. It even doubles as a camera bag on all day photo shoots with the Peak Design camera cube, with room to spare.
This is my 2nd one !!!! I get so many compliments in this when I travel. Love the way it opens up “square” makes the contents much more accessible than a traditional backpack opening
I love the bag however the customer service experience with Portland Gear has been very lacking. I liked the bag so much I went back with plans to buy two carry ons, another Cascade Bag, packing cubes and other accessories in preparation for a family trip. I left with only the hip belt to the Cascade.

Had the largest Vera Bradley bag. This has so much more room. Plan to use it in Germany, England and Australia. Let the fun begin🙃
I also bought the small tote, which carries all my personal products, sandals, tablet, purse, water bottle, and other small items. This leaves the Getaway open for 10 days worth of clothing, along with an extra pair of shoes. I am 64, so I needed something lightweight to carry on my back and that I could lift over my head to put in the overhead bin on a plane. This definitely works! I love the way the zippers are constructed so water won't get in, and I am really looking forward to my next trip!
When the zipper broke on my last Portland Gear backpack- I knew I needed another bag right away! PG’s warranty replaced the bag right away and I decided to upgrade to a larger bag. I can either have the bag separated into two portions or unzip the bottom of the top part and then I can use the entire bag all together. It is wonderful- when I’m not traveling, I keep my electronics and headphones in the lower part of the back and my essentials up top.
This bag is great with a large opening at the top and the capability of a separate compartment in the bottom section. It also has lots of pockets and spaces for a laptop, phone, water bottle, etc. It’s also very durable and high quality. Finally, the backpack part is a game changer when flying or traveling in general. Great product!
It is very roomy and the shoe compartment is very large. I will be using this on a weekend flight and won't need to take anything else. I love it
I packed for 4 days with this bag! However, it is on the heavy side with 4 days of stuff packed inside, but I could have packed more because I still have room to spare!
I absolutely love this bigger backpack! It holds a significant amount more than the regular sized one. It has adequate storage pockets inside and out. I’ve used it along with a small roller-board to avoid checking any bags. Even though Portland talks about it being overhead sized, I had no trouble with it going under my seat. I highly recommend if you’re a compact traveler like me. At 68 years, It’s very comfortable on the back too.
This bag is great - I used it for a three week trip to Europe- it is so functional and smart. Love the compartment separation and the way it stands up for easy access - it just makes sense!
I love this backpack. It absolutely matches my sensibilities around packing! I can use the bottom section for shoes, or I can stack up three packing cubes of clothes in the bottom, and put my toiletries, snacks, books, a jacket, etc., in the top section – along with my laptop and a couple of notebooks I need for work when traveling. I can literally travel for two weeks in this backpack! I’m a very happy customer!
The bag is spacious and I believe will handle 3-4 day trip with this bag being my only bag. The only issue I have is the zippers stick. You do need to move them open and close to the”loosen” them up. I will update once I use the bag for travel.
Love my decision to purchase this backpack! I have looked for months after buying another 5 years ago that doesn’t fit much more than a laptop. The Portland Gear backpack fits my laptop, purse items, and so much more! It’s great with the rainy days of the PNW. I can’t wait to travel with it!
